Apple updates Health app with AI-driven health age
Apple has unveiled a redesigned Health app powered by Apple Intelligence, introducing personalized metrics like a health age and readiness score to deepen user wellness tracking.

Alongside the launch of the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, Apple announced a major overhaul of its Health app. The updated application leverages Apple Intelligence to synthesize user data into actionable insights. Key additions include a new Insights tab for timely summaries and personalized guidance, a readiness score, and a Health Age metric. This health age calculation compares a user's physiological data, such as sleep quality, VO2 max, and blood biomarkers, against their chronological age.
A new Longevity tab will also debut, tracking metrics from the Apple Watch and iPhone to evaluate sleep, movement, and cardiovascular health. To bolster these assessments, users can integrate actual lab results. Apple has partnered with Quest to offer a 50-biomarker blood panel for $119, giving users a direct pipeline to import critical clinical data into the app.
Apple Intelligence enables the app to provide highly tailored recommendations. For example, the system might analyze a user's cardiovascular metrics and suggest adding interval training to their morning runs. Additionally, the update introduces physical movement assessments designed to assist older individuals or those recovering from injuries. These assessments feature virtual trainers who demonstrate specific exercises, which Apple describes as being akin to having a personal coach.
The revamped Health app is scheduled to launch later this year, initially supporting U.S. English. For health and fitness practitioners, the update represents a significant shift toward consumer-accessible clinical data. By lowering the friction for users to obtain and interpret complex biomarkers, Apple is bridging the gap between daily wearable tracking and formal medical diagnostics, potentially changing how patients share wellness data with their doctors.
